Utilities
Hardwicke’s barristers are experienced in all aspects of utilities and infrastructure both in respect of construction and delivery and in respect of regulation. We routinely deal with all manner of claims in the gas, electricity, water, sewerage and infrastructure sectors.
The shipping, transportation and supply of gas conveyed through pipes, and the generation, transmission, distribution and supply of electricity forms a large part of the work of our members practising in this area. We have particular expertise in advising on standard and bespoke connection agreements, terms of supply, pricing (including metering issues), statutory powers of access and other rules relating to private supplies.
We are knowledgeable about the complicated statutory and regulatory framework within the utility sectors and our members have appeared on behalf of clients before the regulators and assisted in liaising with the relevant regulatory authorities on providing guidance for the industries.
Our barristers also have experience of the sort of major engineering and civil engineering based claims that accompany the procurement and delivery of facilities, such as sewerage plants and power stations, and the pipelines and supply lines that feed the system. We also deal with Oil and Gas rig and pipeline work and some of our barristers have specialist knowledge of the marine aspects of oil and gas rig work.
