Amanda Illing joined Hardwicke in July 2009 after 9 years as the Practice Director at Matrix. Her role is to take a lead in the strategic development and management of chambers and to implement its business plan. She takes a key role with colleagues in developing business and long-lasting relationships with clients. She takes responsibility for the recruitment of and career development of the barristers at Hardwicke, and her staff team.
Amanda was previously the Private Secretary to the Director of Public Prosecutions and a caseworker in the Crown Prosecution Service, handling cases such as the appeal of the Birmingham Six, and the first corporate manslaughter prosecution following the sinking of the Herald of Free Enterprise.
Amanda was shortlisted for Senior Clerk/Chief Executive in the Legal 500 Bar awards 2016. She won the Silver Award for Inspirational Woman of the Year at the 2015 Citywealth Powerwomen Awards. She also won the Eclipse Proclaim Modern Law Award 2013 (Non-Lawyer of the Year).
Amanda is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). She is a trustee of the London Legal Support Trust (LLST). Amanda is also an accredited mediator.
Outside work, Amanda and her husband split their time between London and Suffolk, and are currently restoring an old narrowboat on the Regent’s Canal.

The Marketing Team at Hardwicke is responsible for a range of activities including press enquiries, our events and seminar programme, online marketing, client relationship management, advertising, collateral and research projects.
Business Development and Marketing Director
Sally is a qualified solicitor who trained then qualified with Allen & Overy as a commercial litigator before moving to what is now Pinsent Masons. After 14 years in practice, she moved into business development within the Bar and worked at XXIV Old Buildings and 11 Stone Buildings before joining Hardwicke. A key part of her role as Business Development & Marketing Director at Hardwicke is to concentrate on profile raising and business development priorities which her experience of both private practice and the chambers environment makes her uniquely placed to cover.
The Finance Team handles all elements of Hardwicke's financial function including payment, invoicing and accounts.
Patricia Yearley joined Hardwicke in June 2015 after 21 years in senior financial positions in the charitable sector. Her charity experience included Head of Finance at John Ellerman Foundation, a grant-making trust, and Financial Accountant at the child protection charity, NSPCC.
Her role is to ensure that strong financial management is in place while supporting the Chief Executive, particularly with financial strategy, and to oversee the smooth running of the operations and facilities at Hardwicke Building for Barristers and staff.
Her early career included working as an investment accountant in the City and her audit training at Ernst & Young gave her experience across a wide range of business sectors.
Patricia is a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and also holds a Diploma in Charity Accounting (DChA). She has a mathematics degree from the University of Warwick.
With Lancashire roots, Patricia has a wide range of interests from spending time with her family and friends, to football and wild flowers.
