Chief Executive

Ann Buxton

Ann Buxton has been the Chief Executive of Hardwicke for 8 years. She has directed and driven the organisation forward from strength to strength. She is responsible for the strategic management of chambers, leading the staff team, and for devising and implementing the chambers’ strategic business plan. Ann has a wide experience of working with professional service organisations and has worked as a management consultant and in marketing. She has an MBA from INSEAD, and is a regular contributor to several publications on management issues.

Practice Director

Amanda Illing joined Hardwicke in July 2009 to lead our practice team after 9 years at Matrix. Prior to that, Amanda held the position of Private Secretary to the Director of Public Prosecutions, and formerly as a caseworker in the Crown Prosecution Service, handling cases including the Herald of Free Enterprise and the second appeal of the Birmingham Six. Amanda is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, and brings to Hardwicke years of experience of operating at a high level and in high profile roles. Her record of managing and developing staff and barristers is second to none. She is committed to meeting clients’ needs, being responsive to the market, and working with clients to provide pragmatic solutions to the engagement of barristers and fee structures. Amanda brings with her a track record of driving forward corporate social responsibility commitments.
