Mediation
Hardwicke has enthusiastically embraced the concept of mediation for many years. It is now the most frequently used form of ADR in the United Kingdom, but its effectiveness depends to a significant extent upon the quality of the mediator chosen by the parties to the dispute and the tactical awareness and flexibility of the clients and their legal teams.
As well as providing excellent and focussed mediation-advocacy and advisory services for clients attending or preparing for mediations, Hardwicke offers a team of accredited, experienced, forceful and successful mediators who are available to conduct mediations in their specialist areas of practice. Our mediators are also happy to provide combined mediation/evaluations in which, as well as facilitating discussions between the parties towards a mutually agreed settlement, the mediator/evaluator gives his or her specialist view of the strengths and weaknesses of a particular point or the case as a whole. We also offer ArbMed and AdjMed services where appropriate.

Advocates in Mediation
Virtually all Hardwicke’s Commercial, Insurance, Property and Family Barristers are experienced mediation advocates. As in all areas of our work, we pride ourselves on our quality of service and our ability to analyse and explain complex legal issues in a sensible, commercial and accessible manner. We are conscious that the barrister’s role is as part of a team, and are keen to ensure that, particularly in the context of mediation, our clients are placed in as strong a negotiating position as possible and equipped with the information and advice they need to make their decisions.
If you need a mediator or assistance with representation at or preparation for a mediation, please contact our Practice Management Team who will be pleased to help you identify the right person for your case.
