Our barristers act in cases across a broad spectrum of public law work, including allocations and homelessness, benefits, care and adoption, community care, Court of Protection, education, human rights, judicial review, mental capacity, mental health and professional discipline. We represent clients before specialist tribunals, first instance and appellate courts.
We also act in inquiries and inquests, and advise on the public law aspects of healthcare, such as rationing and closure decisions. We advise and represent both central government and local authorities on issues of statutory construction, the application of delegated legislation, and local government powers and duties. We can also offer expertise in EU law including discrimination, freedom of movement, immigration and VAT. A number of our barristers have acted in cases before the ECJ and the European Court of Human Rights.
Our barristers offer expertise, client care and commitment to achieving a cost-effective and practical solution to clients’ problems. Our goal is to act in partnership with our clients, whether they are individuals, NGOs, in-house lawyers, or departments of central and local government. We recognise that the best outcome for the client may sometimes be achieved outside court, and we have wide-ranging experience in all aspects of ADR and mediation.
