Clinical Negligence

We offer outstanding expertise in the field of clinical negligence, with our barristers representing claimants and defendants in claims concerning all branches of the medical profession. Members regularly appear in ground-breaking reported cases and claims of the utmost severity and value. We deal with the entire range of clinical negligence issues and our barristers regularly appear at inquests involving issues of potential clinical negligence, please see our Inquests page for further information. Our members have extensive medical malpractice experience both in the UK and internationally. Our members have related judical experience sitting part-time in the High Court, County Court and Coroners Court.

We have particular experience in handling negligence claims related to cerebral palsy. Members of chambers have concluded several multi-million pound claims in this area, including one negotiated settlement of £7.2 million. We also specialise in secondary victim claims associated with clinical negligence and fatalities with members having appeared for the successful parties in the leading cases in this field.

We have experience of dealing with malpractice allegations which not only relate to registered medical practitioners but also those in relation to the growing range of medical and complementary medicine professions who are in independent practice or who are corporate health providers. Our barristers lead the field in the growing area of negligence in alternative medicine. The range of professionals we deal with is wide, encompassing alleged malpractice by fitness trainers though to specialist Harley Street consultants and their brokers and insurers.

We are experienced in advising on policy coverage and in handling issues relating to material non-disclosure and notification to insurers and re insurers. As well as the more routine malpractice issues such as misdiagnosis, mishandled medical trials and claims handling, incorrect treatment, negligent treatment causing new problems and failure to recognise and deal with cancer and other common problems, we have handled and advised on the less usual such as inappropriate sex change and inadequate male ‘enhancement’ surgery and their related insurance issues.
