Anna joined the Public Law Team at Hardwicke after successfully completing pupillage at Matrix Chambers. She has recently returned from sabbatical having secured a Research Fellowship with Reprieve, an NGO which advocates for the human rights of prisoners on death row worldwide, in secret prisons and those detained in Guantanamo Bay. Specifically, she was working on an EC funded project to identify and assist foreign nationals on death row in the USA and was based full time in New Orleans. Anna is developing a broad practice in all areas of Chambers’ work, with a particular interest in public law, human rights, education, and housing law. She has a busy court and paper practice in Claimant and Defendant work. She has been instructed in the areas of education, housing, social security, data protection, civil actions against the police, extradition, immigration and crime. She advises and represents litigants in all courts, including various tribunals, the county court, the magistrates’ court, the Crown Court, and the High Court.
Anna was called to the Bar in 2008 and prior to commencing pupillage spent time in Malawi volunteering for the Legal Aid Department on murder and manslaughter cases and travelling widely in East Africa. She has undertaken work for the Equality and Human Rights Commission and has provided pro bono advice for the Death Penalty Project on appeals to the Privy Council from Jamaica and Belize. She is an active member of the Human Rights Lawyers Association and has served on their committee since December 2009.

Public Law
Most recently Anna has:
- Appeared in the High Court in an immigration bail application
- Appeared before the Special Educational Needs Tribunal, appealing parts 2, 3 and 4 of a child’s special educational needs statement on behalf of the parents
- Conducted an appeal to an Independent Appeal Panel in a school exclusion case
- Successfully defended a Rent Act tenant in a fast track case in the county court
- Drafted submissions for housing benefit and social welfare law appeals
- Drafted advices on the merits and possible damages in a civil action against the police
- Represented local authorities, housing associations and tenants in claims for possession of property
- Successfully defended a number of small contract claims in the county court
- Successfully represented a father in an interim contact and interim residence hearing
- Provided advice in a number of disrepair cases on quantum of damages
- Sought injunctions in the county court for access to residential properties and against anti-social behaviour
As a Research Fellow with Reprieve, Anna spoke and provided training at the following events:
